Lydia May 19, 2009

Last week was Toby’s amazing week but don’t worry. Lydia had her share of moments as well. Sadly for Jenny most of her moments happened to be around the toilet. For example – there was the time when she threw an entire roll of toilet paper in the toilet and the Toby decided to go number 2 on it. Or the time when Toby put a washcloth in the toilet and Lydia flushed it. Not all of her bathroom moments end in chaos. There are those times of celebration after she goes potty on the big girl potty. We are the parents who reward each success with some kind of candy. Lately it has been jelly beans. Here is the most recent footage of Lydia’s joy getting her jelly beans.

Lydia also is quite fascinated with Blythe. She enjoys giving her – her pacifier, kissing her head, and occasionally holding her. Sometimes though – she wants to be the baby. Recently she wanted to be swaddled like Blythe.

Another recent activity Lydia has taken on is helping in the kitchen.

And when all of those things don’t keep her entertained. She somehow takes great joy in just laughing.

Toby’s Amazing Week May 14, 2009

This week has been amazing for Toby. It started on Monday night when we had two piles of dirt dropped off in our yard. He didn’t go to sleep until 11:30 because he knew Paul was coming in the morning.

6:30am on Tuesday he woke up wondering where Paul was. Paul showed up a little later and Toby was glued in on the bob cat moving all the dirt. Later he got to sit in it which was pretty awesome!

Later in the morning we got a phone call from a friend who said they had some big construction trucks at their place and they invited Toby over to take a peek. He got to do a whole lot more then watch. The picture below is him in the bulldozer!

Here is some video footage of Toby actually moving the levers and driving the bulldozer. I was (and still am) jealous.

Wednesday was mostly an inside day but we did have a special treat of some popcorn. Here is a video of Jenny and I predicting the very thing that would happen.

Shortly after Toby came in Lydia showed up yelling “POPCORN”!

Today Toby spent some of the day outside working on the garden. Then after nap it was time for his big surprise. Here is a picture showing his excitement.

WOW – What a week. While I am downstairs typing this I can over hear Toby talking to his drums, “I’ll be right back guys, I’m going to go get a snack.”

It’s Not Alive Anymore! April 16, 2009

Tonight Jenny and I took Toby to an open house for Pre-School. He went into an ubber shy mood until he noticed the construction trucks. Then he was content to scoop the rest of our time there.

When we were leaving we walked outside and while we were walking on the sidewalk Toby nearly stepped on a dead bird. He wanted to know what was up with that and Jenny said well it’s not alive anymore. Content with that we continued on our walk to the van when another 3 year old girl came out and quickly observed the bird on the sidewalk and became curious. Her dad said well the bird is sleeping. To which Toby (now a good 15 yards away) shouts back IT’S NOT ALIVE ANYMORE!

The second picture is of Toby after he dressed himself for the first time. Love the socks!

The suitcases were Easter presents from Grandma. Toby and Isaiah have Tigers, Lydia has a Lady Bug, and Owen and Blythe have Penguins.

Toby likes to lay down and hold Blythe so Lydia wanted to try it and then Dad thought it would be a good idea just to stack them all up.

Family Stuff April 2, 2009

Things continue to be hilarious in our home. Here is a picture recap.

Lydia thought she would try on some of Toby’s Elmo underwear. We wouldn’t get them off her.

Bath times have turned into a splash fest and crazy hair time.

Toby and Lydia have found a new favorite spot to enjoy cookies.

While I was working Toby brought me this piece of paper and he told me he wrote his name. Jenny and I didn’t even know he could do this. He then told us he didn’t know how to do the letter B. Not bad buddy!

Not to be outdone Lydia continues to work on her coloring skills.

Many of you have asked how Blythe is – UM? – AWESOME!

Side note – Tried to get Toby into a pre-school for next year but he misses it by 6 days. He does qualify for a 3 yr old program but they are full. We signed him up for the next year (fall of 2010) we then realized that Lydia would also be 3 so we attempted to sign her up for the 3 yr old program for fall of 2010. Turns out she is 19th on the waiting list.
